It’s been a couple months since the shooting and murder of ‘Dirty S’, which took place on the streets of the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough of Montreal. Only a couple months passed by and another rapper is shot dead. Local Montreal rapper; Guy Love ‘G Fetty’ Jolicoeur had been gunned down alongside Peter Dave Alisme in the wee hours of Friday morning (19/07/2024). This time, we turn our attention to the Saint-Michel borough of Montreal, a neighboring part to Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
The incident had happened at around 1:50am, or at least, this is the time where the SPVM (Montreal Police Department) were advised of the incident. When the police arrived on the scene of the crime on 25th Avenue, near the intersection of Boulevard Robert, they found two male victims in their 30’s, struck by bullets and fighting for their lives. One was laid out on the ground, and the other in a car. The first responders administered CPR to the victims with no avail, they were rushed to the hospital where they were declared dead.
The identities of the victims consisted of 34-year-old Guy Love Jolicoeur along with 33-year-old Peter Dave Alisme. This results in the 19th and 20th murder on the island of Montreal. Authorities believe that this double homicide was the result of gang ‘Scoring’; a practice in which gang members go to their rival’s territory and shoot at suspected rival members on-sight. Both victims have been seen hanging out with members of Saint-Michel’s ’25east’ gang, although neither of the men were members of the group.
Authorities still do not know the motive of the crime. We know that Guy Love ‘G Fetty’ Jolicoeur was a victim to an armed assault back in 2019. In his songs, he preached about living a criminal lifestyle. Was this murder premeditated? Or just an unfortunate series of events that led to his death. Jolicoeur had been making music for over 3 years before his life was taken, he released multiple singles that had racked up thousands of views on media and streaming platforms.
‘G Fetty’ Jolicoeur had no criminal background with authorities. Peter Dave Alisme, on the other hand, did have a criminal past. Although not a lengthy one, in the 2010’s, he had pleaded guilty of uttering death threats as well as assault and not respecting the conditions he was given.
TVA, a local news source in Quebec, along with the QMI Media Agency had concurred a list of all the rappers shot on the island throughout the past 3 year, stemming from the 3rd of July 2021. With rappers being so closely associated with gangs in this modern age, it’s hard to say what motive an individual has to go out and commit a murder. Is it jealousy? Or is it gang-related. More than 90% of these deaths are related to shootings.

Many suspect the murder of Villeray rapper ‘Dirty S’ was retaliation for the murder of Frederick ‘Boolin’ Michel of Saint-Francois’ 24 Gang. Dirty S had been seen slandering the Laval gang’s name on social media. Might this double homicide be of the same nature? The murder of ‘G Fetty’ marks the 11th rapper murdered in the past 3 years in Montreal.
