David ‘Mizery’ Bouchard-Michel is a rapper hailing from Quebec City. In one of his most popular music videos, ‘Grenade’, gaining 350k+ views, Dave ‘Pic’ Turmel is seen, along with a slew of other goons, proudly standing in front of the mob.
We’ll start this story off by mentioning this following statement. During February and March of 2024, while police were in the midst of ‘Project SCANDALEUX’, they initially arrested 32 Blood Family Mafia members and affiliates. ‘Mizery’ quickly disassociated himself with the group. Honestly, we can’t blame him, with that much heat being brought upon the gang and its affiliates, it would only be the right thing to do. Nobody wants the cops knocking on your door, especially when you really live what you rap about. Mizery was really about that life.
On Friday, March 14th of 2025, 40-year-old Mizery, or David Bouchard-Michel, pled guilty to drug trafficking, uttering death threats and break and entry. He had been arrested on the 9th of February of 2024, concerning the accusations he faced this year. He was released with a promise to appear in court on a later day, but had assaulted and threatened his ex-girlfriend a few days after his release.
The assault and death threats occurred on February 16th of 2024, which is when the man decided to flee the province and become a fugitive. His time on the lam had only lasted a couple weeks, being apprehended by the RCMP in Richmond, British Columbia on the 5th of March.
The prosecutor managed to nail Mizery with the text log of a phone which was in his possession, and a conversation between him and a recipient discussing the sale of 30 grams of cocaine and and a small amount of methamphetamine tablets, or ‘speed’. After he had taken flight to avoid his day in court, authorities didn’t make the same mistake twice, he was locked up, and the key had been figuratively thrown away. There were no more ‘promises to appear…’.
He was sentenced to 26 months. He’s got a little less than 4 months to go from the release date of this article. Let’s not forget that Bouchard-Michel is no stranger to the judicial system in Quebec, having a loaded wrap sheet. It’s important to note that Mizery is a well accomplished rapper, having features with El Garra, Cupidon, Gold B along with many others, amassing hundreds of thousands of views.
