As the new year rolls in and marks its second month, we’re reminded that the Quebec Drug War is still in full effect. On February 2nd, towards 11:45pm, a 54-year old man was arrested and charged with a shooting that had taken place near the intersection of Chemin de la Canardiere and Avenue Bardy in the Maizerets sector of Quebec City.

The fiasco started when a witness had phoned police towards 5:15pm concerning an altercation which had taken place behind a building near the intersection. When police flooded the scene, they found a vehicle circulating the area with a 29-year-old man at the wheel, uninjured, as well as a 30-year-old woman who was suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to the hospital, but made it out of the whole kerfuffle alive. Both occupants of the vehicle later met with investigators.
Police managed to track the alleged shooter hours later in Saint-Apollinaire. The alleged suspect of the shooting was 54-year-old Stephane Cote who was charged with attempted murder and careless discharge of a weapon. TVA reports the incident is in relation to the ongoing drug war but failed to mention whether this was an attack coming from the Blood Family Mafia and the street gangs in alliance with the notorious gang, or if the attack came from the biker’s side of the strife.

Another man was arrested later on throughout the week, more precisely Thursday around 3:20pm in downtown Quebec City. The suspect? Stephane Cote’s 31-year-old son; Jonathan Cote. The SPVQ managed to set forth search warrants in Ancienne-Lorette and the Vanier boroughs of the city, which yielded authorities multiple cellphones and cash money. They were both accused of attempted murder Friday (7/02/2025) but managed to minimize their charges to armed assault. They are currently being held without bail. The father and son duo will be back in court on the 209th of February.

A vehicle arson had taken place on Boulevard de L’Ormiere in a parking lot near a Boston Pizza smack-dab in the middle of the previous incident mentioned. The arson started towards 8:30pm and is believed to have been started due to a criminal nature, although the SPVQ could not tie these two events together.
