Every smoker in Canada is aware that cigarettes are cheaper on native reserves. It’s a curious grey zone that allows native and first nations people to sell their own tobacco and live by their own set of laws. The tobacco has to come from somewhere, usually the states, which is when the illegal part of the operation comes into play.
1476.55kg of loose, shredded tobacco was intercepted by the CBSA on July 25th along with 2400 disposable vape cartridges containing nicotine and 20 cases of contraband cigarettes. The RCMP laid out several charges to 4 individuals hailing from Quebec and Ontario.

Cote-des-Neiges Beauty Salon Arson
In the Cote-des-Neiges borough of Montreal, a beauty salon was target by yet another criminal arson this week. Zina Derma Soins was targeted for the second time in the month of August, with the first time being a break-in the night of the 16th of August.
The criminal arson had taken place on the night of Monday. 2 young people approached the business with a rock in one of the suspects hands and a gas canister held by the second suspect. After using the rock to break a window, one suspect enters the salon while the 2nd suspect hands him the gas canister and starts recording with his phone. Through video footage, we see the 1st suspect empty the canister and light the place on fire while stumbling out of the salon and running away.
The owner of the salon, Malia Gadiri, attributes these 2 recent events to jealousy and wonders who paid the young arsonists. It’s still a wonder why the place was broken into and set on fire or if there lies any hidden agendas on why this salon is being targeted.
