The Weekly Wreck 8: Attempted Murder In Lachine, 15 Arrested In Drug Trafficking Ring, Saint-Leonard Bank Robbery & More

The Weekly Wreck 8 (2/10/2024): This week we take a look at a drug trafficking ring that has faced flack from authorities in Monteregie, 3 seperate vehicle arsons on the island of Montreal, an attempted murder in Lachine & more.

‘Quebec Mix’ Head Shop Raid In Quebec City

A well-known Quebec City head shop was the target to an investigation that had debuted in February. ‘Quebec Mix’ was raided by police on Thursday (26/09/2024) and a 47-year-old man was arrested and questioned by police. Illegal cannabis was being sold through the brick and mortar shop located on Saint-Joseph in downtown Quebec City. The suspect was freed after questioning. Police also seized a Mazda CX3 throughout the investigation.


2 Vehicles Torched In Rosemont & Plateau

On Thursday night leading up to Friday (27/09/2024) morning, towards 1am two vehicles were set a blaze almost simultaneously. The first vehicle was located in the Rosemont borough of Montreal near the intersection of Holt & Iberville, while the second vehicle was located near the intersection of Laurier East & Garnier in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough of the island. The investigation was transferred to the criminal arson department of the SPVM. No one was injured.


Break In Turns To Violent Assault In Pont-Rouge

In the wee-hours of Friday morning, towards 3am, police received a call concerning a break in on Rue Valmont in Pont-Rouge, a town located about a half hour from Quebec City. The intruders broke into the house and started assaulting the two 60-some year old residents. When police arrived on the scene, they rushed the two residents to the hospital, where they were treated for their injuries.

The suspects are still at large and the SQ (Quebec Provincial Police) are deeming this incident as a major crime.

3 Arrested In Montreal & Laval For Arms Trafficking

Wednesday night (25/09/2024) three suspects were arrested in Montreal and Laval for their part in an arms trafficking ring. Franck Philip Lebel Ivo Yankam, 18, Yann Kerol Tchuaga Fakoua, 20 and Justin Karl Deguire, 23, saw the light in court the day after their arrest. Police had seized 6 pistols and ammunition in the Hochelaga borough of the island, as well as in Laval and Saint-Colomban. They are all charged with arms trafficking as well as being in possession of prohibited firearms.


Attempted Murder In Lachine

Towards 11pm on Friday night, a 44-year-old was the target of a shooting near the intersection of Louis-Pare & 26th Avenue in Lachine. As the man was getting out of his parked car a suspect shot him before fleeing. He was shot once. When police arrived on the scene they rushed him to the hospital where doctors deemed his life in critical condition. By the next day, he had recuperated, and he was met by investigators afterwards. One shell casing was found, littered on the scene of the crime. No suspects were arrested.

4 Arrested In Charlesbourg Armed Assault

4 individuals had assaulted a 50-year-old man with a blunt weapon on Sunday (29/09/2024) towards 4:30am on Rue Le Monelier. It only took the SPVQ half a day to find the suspects implicated in this assault. Authorities had raided an apartment block on Rue Le Monelier and searched 2 vehicles Sunday afternoon. The four suspects apprehended were aged 17, 18, while the two other suspects were both aged 27.


Another Vehicle Targeted In An RDP Arson

This time the arson took place in the Rivieres-des-Prairies borough of Montreal on Monday (30/09/2024). Emergency services were called towards 12:40am concerning a sedan on fire near the intersection of Boulevard Perras & Boulevard Marien. No one was injured in the event. The vehicle was towed for further examination and marked as evidence.


B&E/Assault In Jonquiere

The incident had occurred Sunday (29/09/2024) evening in an apartment near the St-Hubert & Lafabrique intersection in the town of Jonquiere in the Saguenay region. Multiple suspects had broken into an apartment and assaulted a man who was in his early 30’s. Pascal Grandisson, one of the suspects was apprehended on Tuesday for the assault while a warrant has been placed on another suspect. The two suspects are well-known to the SPS (Saguenay Police Service) and police are open to interpretation on whether the assault had ties to the ongoing drug war.


Grand Theft Auto & Bank Robbery

36-year-old Eric Ciciola had been released from prison and was in the midst of a halfway house when he reverted back to his old ways in a grandiose style. He was arrested Monday (30/09/2024) after pointing a pistol at a bank employee demanding money. The robbery took place at a bank located on Boulevard Viau in the Saint-Leonard borough of Montreal. He fled in a car he had stolen two days prior. Police later seized the stolen vehicle, seizing the firearm used in the crime and ammunition as well, securing the evidence needed to start a new case on Ciciola.

Ciciola had been serving a 42-month long sentence handed to him in November of 2020 for armed robbery, assault and breaking and entering. He appeared in court Tuesday for several charges including armed robbery, assault and car theft. He also appeared the day after on Wednesday.


3 Arrested In Jonquiere After Firearms Seizure

Saguenay Police Service made their way to Rue St-Luc, located in the town of Jonquiere in the Saguenay region after receiving a call from concerned residents in which they witnessed an armed man in their neighborhood. The call was placed towards 9pm, and when police arrived on the scene, 20 officers deep, the operation lasted until 4am on Wednesday morning.

Once police searched the targeted residence, they arrested 2 men along with 1 woman. Once their search was concluded, they had yielded rifles, pistols along with drugs.


Project Resin: 15 Arrested In Monteregie Drug Trafficking Ring

On Tuesday (1/10/2024) 15 suspects were arrested in a drug trafficking ring which spanned several towns in the Monteregie region of Quebec. These arrests are the final step in an 18-month long investigation. In September of 2023, authorities had managed to seize 1700 marijuana plants, 20 kilograms of hash, 20 grams of cocaine, 6 firearms and 65,000$ of cash money. 7 vehicles were also seized throughout the investigation.
