The Weekly Wreck 9: Man Gets Shot In The Legs At His Own Residence, 7 Teenagers Arrested For A Myriad Of Crimes In Saint-Leonard & More

The Weekly Wreck 9 (9/10/2024): This week we take a look at several arson throughout the island of Montreal, a duo arrested for drug trafficking in Riviere-du-Loup and a man shot in the legs at his own residence in Saint-Hyacinthe.

7 Teenagers Arrested In Saint-Leonard For Violent Crimes

A group of 7 teenagers were arrested last week in relation to a myriad of different crimes. It is believed the 7 teenagers, aged 14 to 17, are part of a Saint-Leonard street gang, most presumably STL or EGK. The group would seek refuge in an abandoned warehouse on Rue Jean-Talon after committing their crimes. Police would uncover this fact after taking part in multiple surveillance operations.

All 7 were released with a promise to show up to court. 2 other suspects believed to belong to this group have warrants out for their arrest, a 16-year-old teenager and a 20-year-old young man. 4 of the 7 arrested were already detained for other crimes.


15-Year-Old Arrested After Attempting To Set Fire To Saint-Leonard Business

In an extortion attempt a 15-year-old was caught a few hours after attempting to set fire to Cafe Rockaberry in Saint-Leonard. The suspect had whipped a Molotov cocktail towards the entrance of the café but the damages were only minor. It is believed the suspect quickly stripped in the parking lot after the fire had been attempted to have been set, for an unknown reason. Presumably his clothes caught fire. Little did he know this would give investigators exactly what they were looking for, clues. The K9s came out.

The youngin appeared in court on Monday after setting the fire over the weekend. This will have been the 2nd time Café Rockaberry had been targeted by a criminal arson with the first taking place on September 20th.


Vehicle Torched In Saint-Leonard

A vehicle was set ablaze Tuesday morning (8/10/2024) near the intersection of Boulevard Provencher and Rue Delage in Saint-Leonard towards 12:15am. The car was declared a loss and evidence on the scene hinted that this arson was set criminally. The vehicle was towed as evidence and the investigation was transferred to the criminal arson department of the SPVM.


Convenience Store Arson In Verdun

Early Monday morning (7/10/2024), a Verdun convenience store was the target of a criminal arson. The incident occurred towards 1:15am near the intersection of Rue de Verdun and Rue Argyle. The suspects had broken the front window panel, entered and set flames to the establishment. The fire was tamed with a fire extinguisher that firemen had found inside. Nobody was injured.


Multiple Vehicles Shot At In Saint-Michel

On Sunday evening (6/10/2024) multiple vehicles in the Saint -Michel borough of Montreal were carelessly shot. The SPVM received a call concerning gunshots towards 9:50pm. Multiple cars were shot at on 7th & 8th Avenue. Police found multiple shell casings on the ground of the two streets. Nobody was injured.


2 Men Arrested For Drug Trafficking In Riviere-du-Loup

Two men were arrested on Friday (4/10/2024) evening after police executed the final step in an investigation debuted in August in the town of Riviere-du-Loup. The arrests took place towards 5pm and yielded the arrest of a 41-year-old man as well as a 50-year-old man. The SQ had also seized 200 grams of cocaine along with 4000 tablets of ‘Ice’ methamphetamine. 4 cell phones and 1000$ in cash were also seized.

The 50-year-old man was liberated with a promise to appear at his next court date. David Isabelle, the 41-year-old, was not so lucky and remains detained due to his lengthy criminal track sheet.


Downtown Montreal Business Targeted By Molotov Cocktail

A business in the Southwest borough of Montreal was targeted by a Molotov cocktail Friday morning (4/10/2024) towards 12:40am near the intersection of Wellington and Ash Avenue. Firefighters quickly tamed the flames upon their arrival. No one was injured.


Man Shot In The Legs In Saint-Hyacinthe

A 29-year-old man was shot in the legs in his own home on Thursday morning (3/10/2024). The crime took place towards 9:15am on Rue Decelles in Saint-Hyacinthe in the Monteregie region of Quebec. When emergency services arrived they rushed the man to the hospital. His life was not in danger. Authorities believe this act of violence was meant to ‘send a message’. The suspect made a clean getaway.


3 Arrested For Vehicle Theft In Quebec City

3 men have been arrested after attempting to steal a vehicle in the Lebourgneuf borough of Quebec City. The SPVQ apprehended the men in the wee-hours of Thursday (3/10/2024) morning, towards 4am after spotting two sketchy looking vehicles. The stolen vehicle gave way to a chase while the vehicle used to transport the suspects had stopped when police intercepted the trio.

The suspect in the stolen vehicle abandoned it in the Sainte-Foy borough and started fleeing on foot where police apprehended him on Rue Frank Carrel using a K9. The trio was aged between 17 and 19 and had 5000$ in cash in their possession, as well as tools to commit vehicle theft and a hefty amount of cannabis.
