Two Suspects Arrested In Savage Hit & Run Shooting In Monteregie

Two suspects were arrested this week in relation to an incident which happened on June 10th. While the victim was walking his dog, an SUV rammed him into a ditch and fired 6 to seven shots at him.

Jealousy can be a bitch, and if you add firearms to the situation it can be deadly. This was the case in June when a 32-year-old man was taking his dog out for a walk in the Monteregie region of the province, when a car came out of nowhere and rammed him into a ditch. This wasn’t all, the suspects then unloaded a pistol on the victim. This was clearly a crime of passion. 2 suspects involved in the incident were arrested this week.

The incident happened on June 10th of 2024 in Pointe-des-Cascades. It was around 9:50am when the 32-year-old victim decided to take his dog out for a walk. When, out of the blue, on Rue Montigny, a red Acura MDX SUV rammed into the 32-year-old victim and his dog. Thrown aback, the victim then fell into a ditch. Then from his vehicle, the suspect driving the car unloaded his 9mm pistol towards the victim, firing a total of 6 to 7 bullets. A neighbor rushed to his aid after the suspects sped off and found the victim in critical condition, he then phoned emergency services. The victim survived.

The suspect driving was 31-year-old Juan Labelle who had a heavy criminal track sheet. The victim was the new boyfriend of Labelle’s ex-girlfriend. This was clearly the motive for the attempted murder which had taken place that June morning. After shooting his clip, Labelle’s rampage wasn’t over. He then rammed his SUV into the blue car which belonged to his ex-girlfriend’s son. Labelle then sped off at a high speed, witnesses mentioned.

A 44-year-old woman was in the passenger seat of the red Acura MDX while this event had taken place. The woman’s name is Anne Pearson, contrary to Juan Labelle, she doesn’t even have a smidge on her criminal record. 2 hours after the incident, she was pulled over by police in Saint-Jerome for speeding excessively. Pearson was going 117 kilometers per hour on a 50km/h road. She was handed a 810$ ticket where she lost 14 demerit points on her drivers license. They hadn’t connected her to the crime at that time.

The type of vehicle used in the crime.

Anne Pearson was arrested yesterday in the Laurentides region of Quebec, while Juan Labelle was arrested on the island of Montreal. Pearson showed up in court yesterday, all the while Labelle appeared in court by video conference today (8/08/2024). Both individuals are facing accusations of attempted murder, assault, having unloaded a firearm as well as having been in possession of a loaded firearm.

It’s a harsh reality for Anne Pearson since she went from having no criminal track sheet to facing major accusations and charges. Juan Labelle on the other hand, is more accustomed to a life of delinquency, having a hefty criminal track sheet. Since he turned 18, he has found himself in court nearly 40 times in the past. With his most recent stint being an armed assault which he was handed a sentence of 10 months last summer.
