The largest tactical operation in Oshawa history has just been announced by the DRPS (Durham Regional Police Service), and consisted of a partnership between CSIS, TPS & OPP. It required well over 130 tactical officers and initiated in January 2024, beginning the investigation because of the alarming number of illegal firearms being trafficked and used in the commission of crimes.
- The investigation included DRPS, Toronto Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and Criminal Intelligence Services Ontario.
- 32 people were arrested, with 174 charges laid.
- 16 illegal firearms were seized, including 12 handguns, 1 rifle, a semi-automatic weapon and two shotguns.
- The gang the investigation targeted is based primarily in the Simcoe and Winchester area of north Oshawa and is known as 22-30.
- In addition to illegal firearms, the group was also involved in drug trafficking and fraud, with quantities of fentanyl and cocaine seized.
- 8 of the handguns seized were smuggled into Canada from the U.S.
The group identified itself as “2230”, originating from a double homicide back in June of 2022 , in Oshawa. After doing some research, we found out that they named themselves after that infamous shooting:
Police say the Oshawa group called itself “2230” in honour of the victims of a June 2022 shooting at The BLVD, a restaurant in Oshawa.
The shooting claimed the lives of Joshua Connell-Wong, 22, and Jaheim Spence, 21. Police say their nicknames were ’22’ and ‘G-30,’ respectively.
Because of how weak of a justice system we have in Canada, three are now wanted for breaching their release conditions after being placed on bail?
Of the 32 individuals arrested, 28 were held for a bail hearing and 13 of those were released on their first court appearance.

Jimmy MAIGNAN, age 19 from Clarington is charged with numerous offences including: Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possess prohibited Device, and Possession of a Loaded Firearm.

A 17-year-old male from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possess Loaded Restricted/Prohibited Firearm, and Possession of a Loaded Firearm.

Selvon SCOTT, age 46 from Clarington is charged with numerous offences including: Failing to Report Firearms Lost/Stolen x5, Improper Storage of Firearm x3.
They were believed to be in involved in the trafficking of illegal firearms, illegal weapon possession, drug distribution, and various fraud schemes with criminal activities reaching as far as British Columbia.
Also seized was one kilogram of cocaine, one kilogram of fentanyl, and $80,000 in currency.
