Tommy ‘Montmagny’ Bernier-Thibault: Another Right-Hand Man, Another BFM Fugitive

Dave 'Pic' Turmel's arrest last March in Italy has the Blood Family Mafia scrambling, trying to reorganize it's hierarchy. Among those that are 'qualified' to lead the group during Turmel's time in the pen, is Tommy 'Montmagny' Bernier-Thibault.

The Blood Family Mafia has reorganized itself since the arrest of its leader, Dave ‘Pic’ Turmel on March 27th, 2025. The young gang leader had been apprehended in Rome, Italy, after what was reported an ‘ally’ of Turmel gave up his location, to cash in from a 250,000$ bounty on any information leading up to the kingpin’s arrest. The fairly new street gang is making waves in the media through actions such as kidnapping, torture, drug dealings and shootings. It only makes sense for the gang to reorganize its hierarchy, given that Turmel will eventually be extradited back to Canada and serve a stint in prison.

We have no doubt that ‘Pic’ Turmel can lead the gang without a problem behind the bars of a Canadian prison; but being locked up in an Italian prison may cause communication issues between the leader and his street gang located overseas. A name that has popped up several times in news outlets the weeks following Turmel’s arrest is a man by the name of Tommy Bernier-Thibault, otherwise known as ‘Montmagny’. A supposed right-hand man for the leader.

Dave ‘Pic’ Turmel’s Arrest

Before we dive into Tommy ‘Montmagny’ Bernier-Thibault’s past, we’ll take a look at the facts surrounding Dave ‘Pic’ Turmel’s arrest which led to the reorganization of the Blood Family Mafia.

Dave ‘Pic’ Turmel

*Many news sources spell Turmel’s nickname with a ‘k’ (Pik) rather than a ‘c’ (Pic). There is no ‘correct’ way as the word “pic” is slang for “shank”.

On March 27th, Italian police officers set about to raid a residential apartment in the Ceglie Messapico district of Rome, Italy. The apartment was suspected of being Turmel’s temporary residence while on the lam in Europe. Towards midnight, authorities were knocking on his door. Turmel proceeded to barricade himself in the apartment. His will to flee authorities is astonishing, a recurring theme we see more and more of in the province of Quebec. Turmel eventually figured out he had nowhere else to go, eventually turning himself in; presenting a false passport along with ID to the authorities tasked with arresting him.

Upon a search of the targeted apartment, authorities had seized multiple SIM cards, two cellphones and even a small quantity of unspecified drugs. Police had also seized a notepad, littered with both French and Arabic writing. Police also found keys to a Mercedes-Benz, pointing out that Turmel was rolling around in a luxury sedan and possibly eating food from a silver spoon in the weeks and even maybe months prior to his arrest. Turmel was arrested and brought to the Regina Coeli prison in Rome. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Canada.

Let’s remember that Interpol had issued a red notice for his arrest and Turmel was the BOLO program’s number one fugitive for a given length of time. Turmel was wanted for drug trafficking and conspiracy as well as armed assault. A newly added charge of conspiracy to commit murder was added to the list. He had been on the run since July 24th of 2023.

It goes without saying Turmel is famously known for starting a drug war with the Hells Angels MC in the province of Quebec. Refusing to pay the HAMC’s imposed 10% tax on all drugs sold in Quebec. This 10% tax had originally been imposed on the Blood Family Mafia in the Bellechasse municipality, a region located on the south shore of Quebec City.

Multiple ‘right-hands’ and lieutenants have been named in the media. Most of which decided to go on the lam instead of facing the music brought on by the long arm of the law. People such as Roobens Denis, Brian Boutin-Craig, Guillaume St-Louis-Bernier and Nathaniel Bernard have been named as important players within the Blood Family Mafia. But a new face has come into play; 26-year-old Tommy ‘Montmagny’ Bernier-Thibault, being born on June 8th, 1998. With his nickname given to him due to the territory he is in charge of; Montmagny. A town on the south shore of Quebec City.

‘Montmagny’ Bernier-Thibault has also been hunted down by authorities since the 27th of February, 2024. It’s a wonder how these criminals, including All Boivin, can run their show while evading authorities. Bernier-Thibault vanished while he was supposed to attend court for assault and threats of a Levis business in November of 2022. But yet, upon Turmel’s arrest in March, police suspect him of running the show.

Tommy ‘Montmagny’ Bernier-Thibault

Bernier-Thibault’s first arrest dated back to 2018, when he had recently turned 18 years of age. He had been arrested after a certain slew of raids in Montmagny. Police first knocked and proceeded to search a residence on Rue du Peuple, arresting 34-year-old Mario Tetu and an unnamed 34-year-old woman. 43 grams of cocaine was also seized. The next day, authorities then proceeded to search a residence on Rue de la Gare which was led by an investigation targeting methamphetamine trafficking. Three other people were arrested including 37-year-old Annie St-Amant.

Finally, a search warrant was served on Rue St-Thomas in Montmagny. The raid led to the arrest of Tommy ‘Montmagny’ Bernier-Thibault along with two other individuals significantly older than Bernier-Thibault. Authorities yielded 55 grams of cannabis, 40 grams of cocaine, 157 methamphetamine tablets and 1 gram of hash. An unspecified amount of cash and a doctor’s prescription pad was also seized. He was sentenced to a sentence of 485 days for his part in the drug trafficking ring.

In 2018, He was charged with a crime similar to the one he had been convicted of in 2016. This time he was sentenced to 17 months in prison. In 2022, Bernier-Thibault was once again sentenced, this time to 39 months, being charged with possession with intent to traffic as well as being in possession of a weapon. We can only presume the charge was bundled up with his November assault charge that led the young man to flee the authorities.

It is said Bernier-Thibault was also the man behind the attempted kidnapping of Mario ‘Banane’ Auger which took place in March of 2024. Auger is a full-patch member of the Quebec City chapter of the Hells Angels, in charge of operations in the Bellechasse region of the province. He was also involved in a torture session of a supposed ‘colleague’ of his who had switched sides in February of 2024. We are lacking information on the latter event that Bernier-Thibault had taken part in. We can only hope further details will be released to the public.
