Charalambos ‘Bobby The Greek’ Theologou

If you pay attention to true crime in Canada, you’ve most likely heard the name Bobby The Greek several times today. Many news outlets claim him as a mob boss or a ‘caid’, the translation for the word ‘boss’ in French. His name has had a subtle presence in different extortion investigations throughout these recent years, but why is this the first time we’re hearing about him? And what sort of standing does he have in Montreal’s underworld?

Charalambos ‘Bobby The Greek’ Theologou

The first trickling of information that was released stated that Bobby The Greek had affiliation to a gang known as ‘The Greeks Of Chomedey’, otherwise named as ‘The Greeks’. Chomedey is a borough of Laval that criminals such as the late Sylvain ‘Haboub’ Kabbouchi of Arab Power claimed through his career. Arab Power is one of the many groups in which he was allied with, being pinned in several extortion attempts throughout Montreal and Laval.

Later reports states how he doesn’t just claim one set, but has his hands in multiple different organizations throughout Laval and Montreal. Being linked to the HAMC, the mafia and street gangs. Acting as a broker for various different crimes, most prominently arsons and shootings needed for extortion attempts. He didn’t stop there, Theologou would also take orders for crimes such as murder. Being allegedly implicated in various slayings in the province of Quebec.

A source of LaPresse states how he had acted as a facilitator for various crime groups, even smoothing things over when things got hot between two different factions. Police were able to pinpoint Theologou as being highly implicated in trafficking substances such as cocaine and heroin. His reach went as far as controlling protection rackets in the prison system.

A recurring event that keeps popping up in certain articles is the murder of the Michael Deabaitua-Schulde, which occurred in Mississauga in March of 2019. Daniel Renaud, a renowned LaPresse journalist, stated that Theologou has been in a conflict with the Ontario Hells Angels MC, while Maxime Deland, a TVA journalist, states that Theologou was a high-ranking affiliate to the HAMC.

His gang, ‘The Greeks Of Chomedey’ had an alliance with the Rollin’ 90’s, a Crip set located in the West of Montreal. One of the Rollin’ 90’s leaders, Marckens Vilme, was tightly knit with Theologou. Keep in mind Vilme is serving a life sentence after being charged for the first degree murder of Deabaitua-Schulde. Deabaitua-Schulde was a member of the Niagara Chapter of the HAMC. This also aroused tension between Bobby The Greek Theologou and reputed gang leader Atna ‘Tupac’ Otna and his ‘Pacteam’ crew.

He also has connections with Davide ‘Baldy’ Barberio and Pietro D’Adamo. The two individuals latterly mentioned are prominent members of the Montreal mafia that are facing the consequences of Project Alliance. The famed police investigation that saw 16 arrest warrants on July 12th of this year. This investigation was aided by Frederick Silva, a hitman turned informant. Taking contracts from Montreal’s trifecta of organized crime-styles whether it be taking up hits from biker, made men or the nitty gritty street gangs of the island.

Theologou had heavy criminal charges back in the early 2000’s. With charges such as conspiracy to murder, drug possession with intent to traffic, firearms charges and breaching his parole conditions. Most of these charges occurred between 2005 and 2009.

Within the months leading up to his death, Theologou had suspicions that his life was in danger. Taking cautionary steps such as having a bodyguard or right-hand man accompanying him in public, or bulletproofing a Cadillac Escalade, which was found at the scene. An unconfirmed acquaintance of his, stated to the media how he had noticed Theologou had been more stressed than usual in the 4-5 weeks following his death.

Although Theologou managed to keep a low profile throughout recent years, Theologou had not managed to escape the grisly day and the consequences that had led up to this fateful moment. We can only hypothesize what this means for the underworld in Montreal.
