The Blood Family Mafia might be the fruits of last year’s headlines but their reign has been the introduction to a new era in Quebec crime, pushing the 1% motorcycle clubs aside to make way for themselves. All thanks to the reckless formula they’ve used to start the strife with the numerous biker clubs throughout the province. What was once the victim of the drug dealing tax might have turned into the money taxing predator. Arab Power, a gang which is taking the province by storm, especially the prison system, have had ties to a recent social media video torturing another prisoner due to his attempt to evade paying taxes to the gang.
Arab Power. We’ve covered a brief profile of their set a few weeks ago, although we have a feeling there’ll be many more stories to write about this street gang hailing from Laval and Montreal. Last week a video surfaced on social media which proved our point. A video of AP (Arab Power) associates torturing a 30-year-old prisoner; if you’re going to sell drugs in the same prison that houses AP gang members, they’ll be hell to pay, in other words, a tax.
We’ve heard a lot of news on violence occurring throughout all of Quebec’s provincial detention centers, even spilling over to the federal penitentiary facilities. Even though Arab Power is a street gang predominantly based out of Laval and Montreal, it seems to be quickly expanding throughout the province with members incarcerated to the east of the province in prisons such as the Quebec Detention Center, otherwise known as ‘Orsainville’. A video of certain prisoners torturing another prisoner has recently surfaced throughout social media last week.
The 30-year-old victim had been detained by prisoners affiliated with the Arab Power and filmed. A few slaps on the face as the video starts off, with the victim being forced to read off a script. Struggling through voicing the words out loud with a piece of paper, a prewritten text on it, the victim announces that he had betrayed ‘AP’ and he is sorry for what he had done.
The victim found himself in that position after not declaring ‘taxes’ imposed by Arab Power on drug dealing throughout the whole of the prison. After the several slaps to the face handed to him, the perpetrator mentions how he is not finished torturing him. He later had his arms tied behind his back and was waterboarded in a prison toilet, with his perpetrators basically drowning him in a ‘swirlie’ method. After that, he had a rag put on his face and was waterboarded, once again, repeatedly.
The victim held his silence and didn’t speak a word about what he had just been through to any authorities. It took the video which surfaced on social media after the event to notify authorities of what had just happened.
Two known leaders of Arab Power (AP) are Sylvain ‘Haboub’ Kabbouchi and Youness ‘Frerot’ Aithaqi, who are both behind bars, Aithaqi for the murder of Joseph Sarikakis, which occurred in 2016 and ‘Haboub’ Kabbouchi is awaiting trial for Nitchell ‘Crank’ Lapaix’s murder. Lapaix was a man who was once known as Jean-Philippe Celestin’s right hand man.
Arab Power are supposedly involved in Gregory ‘Picasso’ Woolley’s death which had occurred in November of 2023, though this is solely what authorities believe. The ties between street gangs and 1% biker clubs are long gone, a problem which even Woolley tried to resolve with no avail. A major change in Quebec’s underworld is taking place, a change in which is unpredictable. Aithaqi and Kabbouchi are rumored to rule detention centers with an iron fist but will this last? Or are the players involved too reckless?
