October 1st, 2025 Shooting
Wednesday morning (1/10/2025), a little after 10:35am, a shooting occurred inside of a Starbucks in Laval that killed one and wounded two others. It was a targeted shooting. The victim? Charalambos ‘Bobby The Greek’ Theologou. A 40-year-old career criminal who seemed to have dodged news headlines throughout the recent years. Nevertheless, a police spokesperson told the media that Theologou “Was the king of Laval. Acting as the mortar between the bricks which represented different criminal organizations from Montreal and Laval”. Police told the media that his name kept popping up in extortion investigations.

Two shooters, sporting masks and wearing hoodies, entered a Starbucks on 4630 Voie de Desserte South, near Highway 440. Once the assailants entered the café, they quickly picked up their pace, heading to the back of the restaurant where Theologou and company were sitting. They opened fire on the men, until the victims hit the floor. The assailants then ran out to the back of the café, and escaped aboard a vehicle. A grey Honda Civic, the getaway vehicle, was found torched to a crisp in the Riviere-des-Prairies (RDP) borough of Montreal only 16 hours later.

The crime scene left a slew of witnesses and patrons of the restaurant in fear. Many of them ducking under tables or covering their loved ones in the midst of the gunshots. Displaying a brazen hit that would leave the majority of Quebec in shock. Police failed to mention the amount of shots that had been fired, with media only stating that the assailants opened fire multiple times.
The weapons used were fully-automatic pistols. Three men lie face down on the floor. If you didn’t know any better you’d think they were dead. The Laval police were called to the scene, but the investigation was quickly transferred to the Surete de Quebec (Quebec Provincial Police). The reason being that this hit was related to organized crime. With a figure who was allegedly tied to the orchestration of the hit being present in the Starbucks at the time. Letting the assailants know the exact place the targets were seated. Rumors are spreading that this individual allegedly had ties to ‘bikers’. Emergency services had attempted CPR on Theologou to no avail. With his death being determined throughout the afternoon.

The second victim was a 45-year-old man by the name of Elias Hadjis. He was the right-hand man of Theologou, being shot a half dozen times. Spending several hours lying on the operation table and being questioned by authorities once he regained consciousness. He had nothing to say, a true gentleman. Both Theologou and Hadjis were in the midst of a meeting with the third victim. The state of the third individual Theologou was with is unknown, although news outlets state that he is in dire condition but will pull through. This meeting was supposedly orchestrated as a means for this hit.
The Starbucks where the shooting had occurred shared a building with a Sushi Shop restaurant and was located near a McDonald’s. Police had flooded the scene throughout the day with even the mayor of Laval making a public statement.

Under Surveillance
The craziest part of this story lies in the fact that Charalambos ‘Bobby The Greek’ Theologou had been under investigation for the past few weeks. Not only under investigation, but having been under surveillance, with a crew of cops watching his every step throughout these recent weeks. Five different unmarked police vehicles and nearly ten officers were immobilized that very day to track him.
One undercover cop had been in the Starbucks, dressed as a civilian, at the time of the shooting while two other officers were watching the scene from an unmarked vehicle. The cop in the Starbucks at the time of the shooting was then filmed helping one of the shooting victims. The assailants had allegedly cased the Starbucks nearly ten or so minutes earlier, before exiting and waiting for their sign to go ahead and carry on with the hit. Theologou was under investigation for drug trafficking and extortion.
Charalambos ‘Bobby The Greek’ Theologou
If you pay attention to true crime in Canada, you’ve most likely heard the name Bobby The Greek several times in the past week. Many news outlets claim him as a mob boss or a ‘caid’, the translation for the word ‘crime boss’ in French. His name has had a subtle presence in different extortion investigations throughout these recent years, but why is this the first time we’re hearing about him? And what sort of standing does he have in Montreal’s underworld?

The first trickling of information that was released stated that Bobby The Greek had affiliation to a gang known as ‘The Greeks Of Chomedey’, otherwise named as ‘The Greeks’. Chomedey is a borough of Laval that criminals such as the late Sylvain ‘Haboub’ Kabbouchi of Arab Power claimed through his career. Arab Power is one of the many groups in which he was allied with, being pinned in several extortion attempts throughout Montreal and Laval.
Later reports state how he doesn’t just claim one set, but has his hands in multiple different organizations throughout Laval and Montreal. Being linked to the HAMC, the mafia and street gangs. Acting as a broker for various different crimes, most prominently arsons and shootings needed for extortion attempts. He didn’t stop there, Theologou would also take orders for crimes such as murder. Being allegedly implicated in various slayings in the province of Quebec.

A source of LaPresse states how he had acted as a facilitator for various crime groups, even smoothing things over when things got hot between two different factions. Police were able to pinpoint Theologou as being highly implicated in trafficking substances such as cocaine and heroin. His reach went as far as controlling protection rackets in the prison system.
A recurring event that keeps popping up in certain articles is the murder of the Michael Deabaitua-Schulde, which occurred in Mississauga in March of 2019. Daniel Renaud, a renowned LaPresse journalist, stated that Theologou has been in a conflict with the Ontario Hells Angels MC, while Maxime Deland, a TVA journalist, states that Theologou was a high-ranking affiliate to the HAMC.

Theologou had heavy criminal charges back in the early 2000’s. With charges such as conspiracy to murder, drug possession with intent to traffic, firearms charges and breaching his parole conditions. Most of these charges occurred between 2005 and 2009.

Bobby The Greek & Company
His gang, ‘The Greeks Of Chomedey’ had an alliance with the Rollin’ 90’s, a Crip set located in the West of Montreal. One of the Rollin’ 90’s leaders, Marckens Vilme, was tightly knit with Theologou. Keep in mind Vilme is serving a life sentence after being charged for the first degree murder of Deabaitua-Schulde. Deabaitua-Schulde was a member of the Niagara Chapter of the HAMC. This also aroused tension between Bobby The Greek Theologou and reputed gang leader Atna ‘Tupac’ Otna and his ‘Pacteam’ crew.

He also has connections with Davide ‘Baldy’ Barberio and Pietro D’Adamo. The two individuals latterly mentioned are prominent members of the Montreal mafia that are facing the consequences of Project Alliance. The famed police investigation that saw 16 arrest warrants on July 12th of this year. This investigation was aided by Frederick Silva, a hitman turned informant. Taking contracts from Montreal’s trifecta of organized crime-styles whether it be taking up hits from biker, made men or the nitty gritty street gangs of the island.

Marckens ‘Big M’ Vilme Prison Stabbing
Marckens ‘Big M’ Vilme, 34-years-old, an associate of Theologou as previously mentioned, had been coincidentally stabbed on the same day. This incident happened at the Atlantic Institution federal penitentiary in Renous, New Brunswick, while Vilme was serving a life sentence in relation to the murder of Deabaitua-Schulde.

The man was stabbed a total of around 20 times, no update on his health has been issued, presumably surviving the incident. Vilme was a close ally to Theologou as well as Arab Power. Let’s not forget, Vilme is a prominent leader of the Rollin’ 90’s. In 2016, he was photographed by investigators with a leader of Arab Power; Youness ‘Frerot’ Aithaqi.
Warning Signs
Within the months leading up to his death, Theologou had suspicions that his life was in danger. Taking cautionary steps such as employing a bodyguard or right-hand man accompanying him in public, or bulletproofing a Cadillac Escalade, which was found at the scene. An unconfirmed acquaintance of his, stated to the media how he had noticed Theologou had been more stressed than usual in the 4-5 weeks following his death.

Nearly two days prior to the October 1st hit, Theologou’s ex-wife had been driving a vehicle which Theologou frequently drove. Another vehicle pulled up and blocked her way. His ex-wife’s kids had been in the car at the time. Armed individuals then made their way to the vehicle, noticing that a woman was driving and refraining from gunfire. The individuals had been ready to commit murder right then and there, with his ex-wife escaping her death by the skin of her teeth.

Only a few hours later, a vehicle had been found torched at the entrance of a Rue Meridian home, located in the Kirkland borough of Montreal. Investigators believe the arson was targeted towards Theologou’s vehicle. The arsonists had mistakenly set fire to the wrong vehicle.
Although, Theologou managed to keep a low profile throughout recent years, Theologou had not managed to escape the grisly day and the consequences that had led up to this fateful moment. We can only hypothesize what this means for the underworld in Montreal…
