Jean-David Isme: Andrew ‘Ali Baba’ Luberisse’s Uncle Assassinated

Jean-David Isme, Andrew 'Ali Baba' Luberisse's uncle assassinated two months after his death in prison.

The motive of the shooting which resulted in a homicide this Sunday (2/02/2025) in the Cote-des-Neiges/Notre-Dame-de-Grace (CDN/NDG) borough of Montreal is still unknown. The victim’s affiliation with street gangs had shed some light on possible reasons for the murder. Even more is the fact that Jean-David Isme was Andrew Luberisse’s uncle, a rapper by the name of ‘Ali Baba’ who was assassinated December 1st while serving time in the Riviere-des-Prairies detention facility.

Scene of the Jean-David Isme murder.

Police where called towards 11:45pm Sunday night concerning a man who was targeted on Rue Saint-Jacques near the Avenue Beaconsfield intersection in the CDN/NDG borough of Montreal. When they arrived on the scene they found a 55-year-old man who was shot. First responders then proceeded to give the man CPR and rush him to the nearest hospital. He later died from his wounds in the hospital.

Upon further inspection of the scene, police gathered evidence around the scene of the crime, surrounding a white sedan that belonged to the victim. This murder marks the 3rd homicide of the year in the Greater Montreal region. No arrests have been made as of yet. The targeted man was 55-year-old Jean-David Isme, the uncle to the late Profit Boyz gang member and rapper, Andrew ‘Ali Baba’ Luberisse who was found dead in his cell at Riviere-des-Prairies detention center in December of 2024.

The white sedan Isme was killed in.

Isme has a past with a loaded wrap sheet. Although authorities don’t believe he is an an active member of the Profit Boyz street gang, he has had multiple brushes with the law. Only last year, in September he was arrested in Levis with a firearm and a mask. He was also apprehended and convicted on another firearm charge along with possession of cannabis with intent to distribute. His biggest charge dates back to 1990 where he was sentenced to 6 years in prison on a kidnapping charge of a prostitute. Isme had contacts with certain MC biker clubs in the past, but presently wasn’t as much of an influential criminal as in the ’90s.

Authorities believe ‘Ali Baba’ was part of an internal purge of his own gang, which had been divided on their stance in the ongoing drug war between street gangs and bikers currently taking place in the province. Ali Baba and his crew, ’40 Thieves’ or the Four Street Runners had kept their loyalty to the bikers, while the other half of the RDP street gang had taken the Blood Family Mafia’s side.

Luberisse was at RDP detention center for a case of conjugal violence case. He had only been admitted to the S1 wing of RDP a couple of days before his death. Kensey ‘Ryder’ Apollon, another leader of the Profit Boyz was housed at the same prison as Luberisse and had asked to change wings a few weeks before Luberisse was admitted. Apollon is a leader of the Profit Boyz and is known to take sides with the Blood Family Mafia throughout the drug war conflict.
