Roberto Scoppa’s ‘Tri-Box’ Business Fined 35,000$

Roberto Scoppa is facing turbulent times this year, having been pinched for a massive international drug-trafficking operation in March, his legal waste management business was fined 35,000$ in August.

It’s been a while since we have heard news about Roberto Scoppa, a brother of the now-deceased Salvatore ‘Mental’ Scoppa and Andrew Scoppa, since he was busted in an international drug-trafficking ring in which the FBI dubbed as ‘Operation Dead Hand’ in March of 2024. We can assure you, he is currently sitting in a cell awaiting a U.S. extradition request for his part in the trafficking ring.

Today’s article is not about his implication in Operation Dead Hand, but rather about his waste management business, ‘Location Tri-Box’, being handed a hefty fine of 35,000$ for improper disposal of waste on agricultural land. It may be a ‘cliché’ that stemmed from the TV Series ‘The Sopranos’, but in this case, the ‘waste management’ stereotype is a fact.

The news broke out a couple weeks ago in August. ‘Location Tri-Box’, a waste management business headed by Roberto Scoppa, was fined by the Ministry of Environment. The fine was upwards of 35,000$. A hefty fine for a company which is deemed ‘Permanently Closed’. This was a follow-up from an investigation which was started in spring of 2021. The fine was due to improper disposal of waste on agricultural land in Mirabel, QC. Location Tri-Box was located on 6500 Route Sir Wilfred Laurier.

The company hadn’t taken the necessary measures needed, failing to sort out waste containing arsenic, zinc, fluoranthene and pyrene. Passing the legal limit of these such contaminants. This dated back to 2019, four years after Scoppa had founded the company in 2015, and four years before he had abandoned it in 2023. Keep in mind 2019 is the very same year that Scoppa had ALLEGEDLY vacationed to Colombia with Hells Angels MC member and leader, Martin Robert, the CBSA reports. Martin Robert’s name rings a whole slew of bells in the modern Quebec 1% biker community. Other information leads that the duo could have vacationed in France as well.

Scoppa had gotten his start in the waste management business; being a co-owner of ‘G&R Recycling’ in Kanesatake, a Native reserve neighboring Oka, located to the west of the island of Montreal. He started this business in 2013 and had sold his share in 2017. ‘G&R Recycling’ made face to several accusations after he had sold his shares, polluting and contaminating the nearby environment so much, that the amount of sulfur in lakes had been 144 times more than what it had been usually.

In December of 2022, Location Tri-Box was sold to Construction Nexus, which was owed by the Sacchetti brothers, Romeo and Antonio, who were based in Laval. Construction Nexus, which had been sanctioned two times in the past for disposing waste in a ‘humid’ terrain denied interviews with LaPresse media agency on this matter. The whole operation and site was shut down in September of 2023 after a complaint had been filed to the City of Mirabel.

Concerning Roberto Scoppa’s ‘Operation Dead Hand’ case, we now know that he had been caught on tape with a police informant who was part of the drug-trafficking operation, stating how he made a million dollars a year trafficking drugs. Scoppa is accused to having conspired to traffic drugs in Los Angeles, most notably for 5 kilograms of cocaine and 1 kilogram of heroin in March of 2023. He is also being accused of having distributed 15 kilograms of cocaine as well as 1 kilogram of heroin in November of 2022.
