The Weekly Wreck 5: Criminal Arson In Beauport Linked To Drug War, RDP Inmate Beaten To Death & More

This week we take a look at a massive downtown brawl which occurred in Montreal on Saturday and included nearly 10 people, a vehicle arson in Val-Belair, a teen stabbing in Saint-Michel and more.

Suspect Arrested In Beauport Vehicle Torching

A 26-year-old suspect was arrested after setting fire to a vehicle in Beauport, near the intersection of Boulevard Lloyd Welch and Boulevard Raymond towards 7pm on Wednesday evening (11/09/2024). Investigators appointed to the crime were from Project MALSAIN, which means this event correlates directly to the ongoing drug war between the Blood Family Mafia and the HAMC.

With help from their K9-Unit, authorities were able to track the suspect who was still in the surrounding area at the time, Project MALSAIN investigators have interrogated the suspect which is set to appear in court today.

The 26-year-old suspect is named Derick Tremblay, a Sept-Iles resident accused of two charges concerning the arson. He also is in the process of settling another charge of armed assault and uttering death threats in Sept-Iles.


Police Chase In Candiac Ends In Crash

Police attempted a traffic stop on Autoroute 10 in the proximity of Brossard in the wee hours of Thursday morning (12/09/2024), the driver of the vehicle opted to flee the police instead. The suspect’s vehicle had crashed into a fire hydrant near the intersection of Rue Sirois and Boulevard Kimber in Saint-Hubert. Police arrested one suspect and later released him after he denied being a passenger in the suspected vehicle. The driver of the vehicle is still on the loose.


Rivieres-des-Prairies Inmate Beaten To Death

A 32-year-old inmate at Riviere-des-Prairies detention center was beaten to death Tuesday night (10/09/2024). Guards found his lifeless body beaten to a pulp at around 10:30pm. The man’s name was Mahdi Hijazi, a Montreal-North resident, who was incarcerated since the 29th of March and was set to appear in court for such charges as extortion.

Hijazi was jumped in his own cell after taking more than he needed from a drone delivering illegal contraband. He had also raked up a bill since behind bars, owing several inmates money in which he was having a hard time paying off. Hijazi was convicted in 2020, sentenced to nearly 2 years after being charged with a criminal arson. He was also convicted in 2012 for being in possession of illegal substances.

26-Year-Old Woman Stabbed In Southwest Montreal

The SPVM were notified of an injured woman towards 10:30pm Tuesday night (10/09/2024). Police had found her near the intersection of Notre-Dame West and Avenue Greene. The motive of the stabbing is unknown. She was rushed to the nearest hospital with minor injuries.


Shots Fired In Shawinigan

Tuesday afternoon, many residents of a residential neighborhood were concerned after they heard a flurry of gunshots being let off. Once police arrived on the scene, near the intersection of Cloutier and Saint-Paul, they had found a 20-some year old man, injured by what seemed to be like projectiles. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries. Police are investigating this case.


Five Suspects Arrested In Saguenay

Sunday (8/09/2024) night, towards 11:30pm, a concerned resident of a neighborhood in Saguenay phoned emergency services after hearing what sounded like a gunshot. 5 suspects were arrested afterwards and an investigation of the scene was later effected by police the day after, on Monday.


Man Shot At In Longueuil

Sunday night (8/09/2024) a 20-some year old man was shot at in the Greenfield Park neighborhood of Longueuil near the intersection of Springfield and Oak. The incident happened towards 7pm, the man was lucky enough to dodge the bullets fired at him. The victim is well-known to police, no suspects had been apprehended but the investigation is still ongoing.


Two People Stabbed In Downtown Montreal Street Fight

The incident took place smack-dab in the middle of downtown Montreal, when SPVM received multiple calls alluding to a fight which had broken out towards 12:30am, Sunday morning, near the intersection of Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Rue Saint-Jacques. Close to a dozen individuals were involved in this brawl.

Once police arrived they found a 23-year-old as well as a 28-year-old stabbed, they were immediately transported to the nearest hospital. A woman, 32, along with three other men aged 23, 33 and 35 were questioned by police. The fight started between the occupants of 2 vehicles although the reason for the fight is still unknown.


Teen Stabbed In Saint-Michel

Towards 6:45pm on Saturday night (7/09/2024), a teen was found stabbed by the Saint-Michel metro station. The 14-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital for his injuries. He was injured on the upper body. The altercation had taken place right outside of the metro station. No suspects were arrested in this case.


Young Man Arrested After Brandishing Air Pistol

In the wee-hours of Friday morning (6/09/2024) an 18-year-old man stupidly pulled out an air pistol in downtown Sherbrooke. Police were called shortly after towards 1:20am. When they arrived on scene, the suspect fled but was shortly apprehended on Rue Wellington South.

The 18-year-old man now faces accusations of possession of a weapon, obstruction of justice and violating his parole.


Three Suspects Caught Red-Handed In A Grand Theft Auto

Police were called in Beauport by a resident who had heard his vehicle starting at 4:00am in the morning. The incident took place on Rue Labelle. A quick chase between the suspects and police had occurred. When police apprehended the suspects, they found a woman, 19, behind the steering wheel of the vehicle.

Another vehicle used to get the suspects to their targeted vehicle was tracked by police, and it too, gave way to a short chase. After abandoning the vehicle, the two suspects, a 19-year-old along with a 16-year-old were apprehended. A 4th suspect was able to flee authorities successfully. This event occurred on Thursday (5/09/2024).


Vehicle Arson In Val-Belair

During the wee-hours of Thursday morning (5/09/2024) on Rue de Hauterive emergency services found a pick-up truck that had been voluntarily set on fire in a wooded area. This is still an open investigation as to why this truck was set aflame.

Events are becoming more violent in Eastern Quebec with the last 2 weeks. This morning a vehicle was found torched just 2 kilometers away from the Red Devils MC clubhouse. A body was found nearly a kilometer from the vehicle.
