The Weekly Wreck 6: Project MALSAIN Drug Seizure, 100 Kilograms Of Weed Seized After Traffic Stop & More

On this week's issue of The Weekly Wreck (18/09/2024), we take a look at a Project MALSAIN seizure which took place on Monday in Quebec City. We also take a look at the seizure of a hefty amount of cannabis which was seized in a traffic stop effected in Temiscouata.

Criminal Arson On Unoccupied Levis Residence

Over the night of Tuesday to Wednesday (17-18/09/2024) a fire was set on a residence on Rue du Ramoneur in Levis. Police have opened up an investigation and fear the arson might have to do with the ongoing drug war happening in the region.

A call to the SPVL had been placed around midnight, alerting authorities that a fire was in the midst of burning. Thankfully, no one occupied the home at the time of the crime. Firefighters were able to tame the flames but a considerable amount of damage had already been done to the residence. No suspects were arrested in relation to this arson.


Police Chase On Autoroute 20

Towards 3:30am on Tuesday morning (17/09/2024), police attempted to intercept a vehicle on Autoroute 20 towards Sainte-Helene-de-Bagot. The vehicle in question refused to subject itself to the traffic stop, rather leading the squad car on a police pursuit. The vehicle eventually crashed towards the Drummondville exit where a man in his 20’s was at the wheel, while the passenger had been a 18-year-old woman. The two suffered minor injuries. Upon further inspection police deemed the vehicle to have been stolen.


Voluntarily Torched Vehicle In Val-Belair

Quebec City and its surrounding areas seem to be host to a ton of arsons that have been criminally set in these past recent weeks. It’s a wonder if this increase in heat has to do with the famed BFM drug war. Towards 6am this past Saturday (14/09/2024), firefighters were called to a house in a residential neighborhood in Val-Belair where they extinguished a fire that had been voluntarily set on a grey Lexus SUV. The case was transferred to police who are currently running an investigation on the event.


2 Arrested In Quebec City In The Frame Of ‘Projet MALSAIN’

An investigation had been launched in August in the frame of ‘Project MALSAIN’. The fruits of this investigation led authorities to the arrest of 2 men in their 60’s Monday morning (16/09/2024) after a search warrant had taken place towards 5:30am in the Vanier borough of the city. Police seized 70 grams of cannabis, 200 grams of cocaine, 35 cartons of contraband cigarettes and prescription medication. 4 cellphones had also been seized, as well as 200$ and drug manufacturing materials. The men arrested were aged 64 and 65.


100 Kilograms Of Cannabis Seized After Temiscouata Traffic Stop

A traffic stop set about by the SQ last Friday (13/09/2024) led to an impressive amount of weed seized, along hash, wax, oils, and nearly 3000 blinkers. The traffic stop took place near the 40 kilometer marker of Autoroute 85. A 34-year-old man was behind the wheel of the vehicle. SQ executed a search upon the traffic stop were they found 100 kilograms of cannabis, 18.5 kilograms of cannabis derivatives, 1100 vapes loaded with cannabis derivatives and 1800 ‘tobacco’ vapes. The driver of the vehicle is facing accusations and fines in relation to marijuana sales and also tobacco sales.


Trois-Rivieres Home Invasion Suspect Arrested

In an odd series of events, a home invasion occurred towards noon Sunday afternoon (15/09/2024) in the Forges Nord borough of Trois-Rivieres. The suspect, a 56-year-old man, had walked into the residence of a couple in their 50’s and 60’s and held them at gunpoint, asking for their wallet and keys to a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek parked in the driveway. The suspect was later caught on surveillance cameras across the city buying numerous things with the cards he had just stolen. He was apprehended by authorities Monday night.


Shots Fired In Saguenay

Supplementary to last week, more gunshots had been let of in the town of Laval-sur-le-Lac, this time, hitting a nearby residential building in the sector of Labaie. The gunshots were fired towards 2am in the wee-hours of Sunday morning (15/09/2024). Local residents interviewed noted that it wasn’t a violent neighborhood but they suspect some rowdy neighbors to have been involved in the incident. SPS, Saguenay police, are asking the local public for help.

RDP Vehicle Arson Deemed To Be Criminal

Monday morning (16/09/2024) in the Riviere-des-Prairies borough of Montreal a vehicle had been torched near the intersection of Lapierre & Maurice-Duplessis towards 2:30am. Witnesses claimed they saw one suspect lighting the vehicle on fire and fleeing afterwards. Police debuted an investigation concerning the event.

Stabbing In Downtown Montreal

A 41-year-old man was stabbed towards the end of the afternoon on Sunday (15/09/2024) in downtown Montreal’s Cabot Square near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine’s & Atwater. The stabbing had occurred after an altercation which had taken place. The suspect had fled after the stabbing and when police had arrived on the scene they immediately transported the victim to the hospital. The victim had non-life threatening injuries. No arrests had been made after the event.


Delson Perfume Theft Leads To Collision With Squad Car

Towards 4pm on Saturday afternoon (14/09/2024) in the town of Delson, located in the Monteregie region of the province, a police pursuit ensued. Authorities received a call concerning the theft of perfume in a nearby pharmacy. Police arrived on the scene only to find a sketchy vehicle which had taken chase. A brief pursuit had ensued, ultimately ending in the suspect’s vehicle crashing into a squad car. A citizen had captured the whole kerfuffle on video.

Ville-Marie Assault Has 57-Year-Old Fighting For His Life

An assault which had taken place in the wee-hours of Sunday (15/09/2024) morning towards 1am has a 57-year-old man fighting for his life. The assault took place near the intersection of Crescent & Rene-Levesque West. The altercation had taken place after an argument of a mutual acquaintance in the neighborhood, a third individual had gotten involved in the argument, hitting the victim in the head. The two suspects had then fled. No suspects were arrested.


Drunk Driver Leads Police On A Pursuit

Police attempted to intercept a vehicle on Saturday (14/09/2024) afternoon towards 3:15pm. Once stopped, the suspect backed up, hitting the squad car which had stopped him and then fleeing, leading police on a chase. Police eventually arrested the 25-year-old individual who was brought to the police station and is facing charges. This event had occurred in the Monteregie region of Quebec.


Shots Fired In Boucherville

Gunshots rang out Saturday (14/09/2024) towards 2:30am on Rue Jean-Deslauriers. Concerned citizens had contacted the Longueuil police service telling them they had at least heard one gunshot in the neighborhood.


Armed Sainte-Therese Man Barricades Himself Inside Residence

A man in distress had barricaded himself in his humble adobe on Friday (13/09/2024) afternoon when police intervened in this case. After simply negotiating with the man, he rendered himself to the local police. It is unknown what led the suspect to have a crisis, but several residents residing in the neighborhood were shocked to hear about the situation, with even some of the neighborhood residents being caught in the negotiation crossfire between police and the suspect.

A Kilo Of Coke & Nearly A Dozen Firearms Seized Near Rimouski

A search warrant had lead to the arrest of a 50-some year old man on Friday (13/09/2024) near Rimouski. Authorities had found 1300 gram of cocaine, a substantial amount for a small town. They also found 1500 tablets of methamphetamine. 65,000$ dollars in cash was also seized as well as close to ten firearms. Media did not specify whether these firearms were legal, or meant for hunting. Two crossbows were also seized. This warrant was the fruits of an investigation set about in August of 2023.
