The Weekly Wreck 7: 4 Drug Traffickers Arrested In Sherbrooke, 2 Criminal Arsons In Montreal, Candiac Home Shot At & More

The Weekly Wreck 7 (25/09/2024): This week we take a look at two arsons criminally set on the island of Montreal, 4 drug-traffickers arrested at the beginning of the week in Sherbrooke and a suspicious death which took place in Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon.

Charlesbourg Convenience Store Robbed

Tuesday (24/09/2024) night towards 7pm, a 16-year-old teenager had robbed a Couche-Tard (Mac’s) convenience store/gas station at knife point. The convenience store was located on Avenue De Gaulle in the Charlesbourg borough of Quebec City. Police rushed to the scene and started an investigation, trying to track down the suspect with the help of a K9. The suspect had gotten away with the money from the cash register.

Two hours after the initial event, the SPVQ had received a call from the 16-year-old suspect. He wanted to turn himself in. The SPVQ had finally apprehended the young suspect in Limoilou and had charged him with robbery.


Four Drug Dealers Arrested In Sherbrooke In Two Separate Cases

A passer-by had alerted police of a bag he had found containing drugs towards 10am on Tuesday (24/09/2024). When police arrived at the scene, they found the bag in question, containing nearly 2000 methamphetamine tablets as well as a bag of what looked like cocaine. Upon further inspection of the scene, they had found a sawed-off .12 gauge shotgun in the area as well. The scene was a bushy area near Rue Golconda.

Authorities then set up a surveillance operation which helped them to arrest 2 possible suspects, a 17-year-old as well as a 34-year-old. They apprehended the two suspects towards 2pm on Tuesday. The suspects were later questioned by investigators.

Supplementary to these two arrests, Two other men aged 27 and 37 were also arrested after a search warrant was effected on Rue St-Louis in downtown Sherbrooke. Police found methamphetamine tablets as well as cannabis.


Stolen Vehicle Found A Month Later In Saguenay

Police had stumbled on a stolen vehicle Monday (23/09/2024) in Jonquiere. The vehicle, which had drugs inside of it upon its discovery, was reported stolen in August of 2024. A 30-some year old man was found driving it but later released.


65,000$ Of Machinery Stolen Near Quebec City

A theft of an industrial commerce was resolved this week on Tuesday, when a 21-year-old man was found and a search warrant executed in Beauport, revealing 65,000$ worth of machinery used for the purpose of concrete finishing. The theft had taken place on the 10th of September in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures when a commerce was robbed of it’s tools and machinery.


34-Year-Old Stabbed In Southwest Montreal

A 34-year-old man was stabbed in the wee-hours of Tuesday morning (24/09/2024) after an altercation had taken place near the intersection of Rue Notre-Dame Ouest and Rue Rose-de-Lima. The victim was taken to the hospital by paramedics. An investigation was launched with the help of K9 units but no suspects were apprehended as of yet.


3 Suspects Arrested For Vehicle Theft In L’Ancienne-Lorette

A vehicle was called into police for driving erratically on Sunday night in L’Ancienne Lorrette, a town neighboring Quebec City. Police deemed the vehicle stolen after a quick search of the license plate. They apprehended this vehicle once its passengers made a stop at a convenience store, arresting three people in total. Two of the suspects were minors. The three were held until they appeared in court.


Suspicious Death In Lanaudiere

Police received a call towards 6am on Sunday morning concerning the sound of a gunshot on Rue Alfred in Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon in the Lanaudiere region. Supposedly two individuals had shown up to a home, in hopes of entering it, when an altercation had taken place and the homeowner shot one of the would-be intruders.

The homeowner was well-known to police having a hefty criminal rap sheet. The 46-year-old was convicted of drug trafficking in 2016 and pleaded ‘not guilty’ to armed assault. He is also a family man with a daughter. Police did not confirm whether the man they arrested was the homeowner or one of the intruders.


Vehicle Arson In Villeray

Emergency services were called to a scene where a sedan had been set on fire in the wee-hours of Saturday (21/09/2024) morning. The arson took place near the intersection of Rue Chabot and Rue Everett in the Villeray borough of Montreal. A suspect was seen drenching the car in a flammable liquid then setting on fire before fleeing.


Saint-Laurent Home Engulfed In Flames

Police were called Saturday morning towards 3am when a residential home was set on fire in the Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal. The incident occurred near the intersection of Rue Badeaux & Bertrand. Two suspects were seen dousing the vehicle located in the driveway of the residence in a flammable liquid. The flames then propagated onto the house which had made major damages to both the house and the vehicle.


Candiac Residence Shot At

A house in the town of Candiac, which is located on the South Shore of Montreal was targeted by gunshots towards 1:30am on Friday (20/09/2024).

This occurred near the intersection of Avenue Gregoire & Avenue Gauthier. None of the residents occupying the house were injured as a result of the gunshots. No arrests have been made in relation to this incident.

Man Arrested In Quebec City For Firearms Charges

Towards 11:40am, Friday morning (19/09/2024), the SPVQ had apprehended an armed individual in the Sainte-Foy borough of Quebec City. The apprehension took place on Boulevard des Hotels and was transferred to the investigators of Project MALSAIN, a police squad formed to tackle the increase in drug trafficking and gun violence in Quebec City mostly concerning the BFM drug war. The suspect was 30 years of age.
