Young Man Murdered In Ahuntsic Allegedly Had Ties To ’64 Gang’

A 20-year-old man who was murdered last Wednesday (19/02/2025) allegedly had ties to Montreal's '64 Gang', a newly emerging street gang located in the Saint-Laurent borough of the city.

A murder had taken place last Wednesday (19/02/2025) night, towards 9pm, where a 20-year-old man was shot to death in the Ahuntsic borough of Montreal. No calls were placed to 911 concerning gunshots at the time of the shooting, it was rather a passer-by who phoned-in concerning a wounded man he had found near the proximity of a vehicle on Rue Cousineau, near the intersection of Rue Laurin.

When police arrived on the scene of the crime, they found a victim, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds whom they ultimately rushed to the hospital. His death was later confirmed throughout the night. The man’s name was Mouaade Fakhoury, his death marks Montreal’s fourth homicide of the year.

Mouaade Fakhoury didn’t have a criminal record. Investigators managed to dig up the fact that he was intercepted by police a number of times in his past, on the west end of Montreal, and even the north shore of Montreal. Fakhoury allegedly had ties to the ’64 Gang’, a gang of scoundrels, who named the gang after a bus route that leads to Cote-Vertu metro station. Keep in mind that half of the street gangs in Montreal have official names and the other half consists of cliques recurrently meeting up, or even living within a certain proximity. The gangs of the latter seem to fade away, with only a fraction of them standing still.

64 Gang operates mainly in the Ville Saint-Laurent borough of the island and coincidently, members of the gang had been raided the day following the murder of Fakhoury. The raid took place in the Saint-Laurent borough of the city. The 64 Gang has a reputation for stealing vehicles. A 21-year-old member of the gang, Svet Savanh Sopraseuth, made news waves in 2023 after being active on social media, brandishing shanks at Bordeaux detention facility. Sopraseuth had been imprisoned for a vehicle theft and possession of a prohibited firearm.

We do not know how implicated Fakhoury had been in the gang, or if his murder had been justified. Had he just been a case of mistaken identity? Been cursed for just hanging out with the wrong people? Or was he really about that life?
