British Columbia seems to have had an influx of criminals from Quebec being arrested in their province this summer. First off, there was the Zone 43 drug bust, in which several gang members were arrested with a hefty amount of drugs, pistols, along with close to 150,000$ seized in cash money through ‘Project Talon’. Then, there was the murder of Montreal East-End rapper Dirty S, whose shooter was apprehended in Prince George, British Columbia. It’s a wonder whether Quebec thugs have business with the criminals out West, or if they have acquaintances in British Columbia. Another incident of the same nature has occurred, this time concerning the Blood Family Mafia and two of it’s lieutenants.
A very close associate to Blood Family Mafia leader Dave ‘Pic’ Turmel was arrested in Kelowna, British Colombia on the 30th of June, 2024. The arrest was effected after a police traffic stop and Guillaume St-Louis Bernier was arrested due to having a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest which was issued on March 20th of 2024.
You may ask yourself what the country-wide warrant was for and why St-Louis Bernier fled to the other side of the country. The warrant was mainly for drug-trafficking but also being in possession of stolen goods. Was it worth travelling 10,000 kilometers across the country for such charges that had been laid in August of 2023? Only Guillaume St-Louis Bernier could answer this question. The long arm of the law never seems to fail, no matter what province you plan to hide in.
St-Louis Bernier was sent back to the province of Quebec on the night of July 5th, 2024, 5 days after he was arrested in that police stop. He was in court by video conference the very next day, on the 6th of June. The future of the 28-year-old gang member is still uncertain.
Another right-hand man of Dave ‘Pic’ Turmel, one that we have mentioned several times throughout this saga, is going through the twist and turns of the justice system. Roobens Denis, a 32-year-old man who was apprehended in the capitol of Portugal, Lisbon, is facing the judge’s gavel. Denis was arrested in a Lisbon hotel, at the very beginning of March and extradited back to Canada after being on the run since July 26th of 2023. A big-boned man, Denis was arrested appearing thin and frail.
Roobens Denis was wanted for drug-trafficking, drug-trafficking conspiracy and arms trafficking when Quebec authorities had Interpol issue a Red Notice for his arrest. Denis appeared in court through video conference on the morning of the 28th of June. During his appearance, he seemed to be confused, interrupting the judge stating “objection, objection” and asking the judge to speak to a psychiatrist, hiding his face with his shirt. The judge had eventually issued he be held for a psychiatric evaluation. Denis even told the judge that he, himself could be his lawyer, while having no lawyer present.
Might it have been the time he had spent inside since March which took a toll on the man? Or the stress of being in the media almost every week supplementary to being on the run which discombobulated his mental health? He was charged of drug-trafficking along with a charge of being in possession of cocaine with intent to traffic. Denis was cut-off with communications with 11 people in the game including Dave ‘Pic’ Turmel.
Denis was set to appear in court about a week later on July 4th after his psychiatric evaluation. Although, when he appeared in front of the camera Thursday, he wasn’t much better, asking judge Frank D’Amours to report the case to a later date. He also asked to speak to his family and his ‘lawyer’ although there is no lawyer assigned to his case. Might Roobens Denis want to contact his criminal colleagues in hopes that they will supply a lawyer? Or is this man just utterly confused? The case has been delayed another 14 days.
With 36 Blood Family Mafia members being arrested through the efforts of Project SCANDALEUX along with two top-tier lieutenants. It’s a wonder how the Blood Family Mafia’s story will end. But will it end? There seems to be a lot of support especially from independent dealers. The uproar in Saguenay throughout the start of the summer proves this fact. We can just wait and see as the story unfolds.
